Summer’s coming to an end which means there really isn’t much time left to squeeze in one last getaway. But here at Sunday Forever, we’re all about making do with what we already have - so why go when you can just stay? We’d like to think we’ve mastered the art of staycations and we want to share our tips and tricks with you. Here are just a few of our favorite ways to really give ourselves the at-home luxury we need from time to time...
GET YOUR STAYCATION STATION READY
“When I’m treating myself to a little staycation, there’s nothing more important to me than getting my scene situated. first things first, I head to the grocery store to get all my favorite treats, which means lots of watermelon, tequila, tortilla chips and all the makings for my salsa recipe. Getting these vacation style snacks is key to ensuring that i won’t have to leave my apartment for the rest of the day. Next, I set up my garden with all the things i know i’ll need to make me feel extra cozy - this means a ton of blankets, pillows, candles, my laptop, and a book. and last but not least, I lay in the garden with my dogs, eat my snacks, and live my best life.” - ASHLI
HOST AN INTIMATE DINNER WITH YOUR FRIENDS
“Nothing makes me feel happier than having a group of friends over to my roof patio for an evening of food, wine, conversation and laughter. I set the scene by lighting a few candles and a playlist that melts into the background but still adds to the atmosphere. I make sure there is a mix of healthy foods and fun snacks. A cheese and charcuterie board is mandatory. I’ll usually make a big green salad with some quinoa and have a bunch of fresh vegetables but I’ll take extra time to put some extra effort into what I make. For instance, I grill the pita bread for the hummus and cut it into wedges so it tastes just like my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. Grilling peaches and sprinkling with some feta cheese for a little sweet and savory mix is my favorite summertime dish. Of course, there’s always lots of crisp, dry rose or white wine (sometimes sangria) and lots of ice cold seltzer water with lime to keep the heat in check. At the end of the night I am full of food and love - I completely reset after a night spent with people I love.” - CATHY
LIGHT A CANDLE
“Always light a candle. I never knew this type of luxury until I started working at Sunday Forever - the way burning a candle could make me feel. I always thought this was reserved for the rich and bougie, and never quite understood how a candle could really “set the mood.” But now I can’t seem to go through an evening at home without feeling the need to light one up. The scent I end up going for always depends on the vibe and mood I’m going for, but when I really wanna treat myself to some good Staycation vibes, Sunday Forever’s Coconut is always a go-to. Can you think of anything better than the smell of cream, milk and coconut? Neither can I. It really transports me to a different place where I can luxuriate and indulge in Nice Things in the comfort of my own home.” - Irene
GET COZY WITH SOME TV, WINE OR COFFEE, AND YOUR ROBE
“I love early mornings and late nights. If I had it my way I'd be up from 11pm-7am, when the world is resting and you can relax without a bother. One of my favorite things to do is cozy up in my room in my favorite Sunday Forever robe, grab a cup of coffee or glass of wine (depending on the time of day), and watch a feel-good tv show or movie. Nothing makes me happier and more at peace. I turn off the lights, light a few candles, and, sink into my little oasis.” - Olivia
